about

‘Train to Disaster’ was a song that came together in November of 2020, which was a decidedly stressful time for everyone. The pandemic was raging on and we had reached the culmination of a bitter and high stakes election. It felt like the United States was a runaway train driven by a bunch of engineers who were either completely clueless or didn’t care enough to do anything, thus the inspiration for the song. It’s basically a metaphor for living through an existential crisis and having no faith in your elected leaders.

lyrics

The train has left the station
And the sun is going down
The engineer’s gone crazy
And the brakeman can’t be found
Now I’ve got a sinking feeling
And it just won’t go away
The light at the end of the tunnel
Is another train coming our way

Train, train, train to disaster
You can’t slow it down
Just keeps gettin’ faster
Train, train, train to disaster
You can’t slow it down
Just keeps gettin’ faster

Party in the dining car
There’s whisky, beer and wine
The train is headed for a cliff
But we’re having a good time
We thought that we got lucky
But much to our dismay
The light at the end of the tunnel
Is another train coming our way

Train, train, train to disaster
You can’t slow it down
Just keeps gettin’ faster
Train, train, train to disaster
You can’t slow it down
Just keeps gettin’ faster

Who we gonna turn to
In our darkest hour?
The breakman’s left his station
And the driver’s drunk with power
It would take a miracle
To somehow save the day
But the light at the end of the tunnel
Is another train coming our way
